Thirty-six Scottsdale employees were recently honored for their commitment to helping the community including mentoring at-risk youth, helping to combat opioid overdoses, and going above and beyond job duties to help others.
The city recognized the employees along with one volunteer during its annual employee awards program held last month.
Among this year's honorees include water resources director Brian Biesemeyer; recreation leader Norma Saldana; wastewater collections lead Bill Wilson; security guard Larry Scott; equipment operators Fernando Alonzo and Raymond Montoya; Michelle Albanese; Chad Beougher; Justine Boyd; senior assistance city attorney Luis Santaella; Carolyn Jagger; Cathie Butteweg; Karen Dingman; Chris Feltz; Larry Scott; Erica Smith; human resource analysts Amy Barczak and Denise Garcia; Sue Caughey; Bruce Ciolli; Helen Gandara; Brian Hartman; Cassie Johnson; Joanne Meierdirks; Nora O'Connell Krause; Jeromie O' Meara; Timothy Ostby; Whitney Pitt; Matt Rigberg; Matt Roadifer; Luis Santaella; human services specialists Mike Lopach; and volunteer Betty Ames.
Among the group of winners' accomplishments for going the extra mile to help Scottsdale residents and fellow co-workers were putting a wheelchair bound resident's trash and recycling out to the curb every week to helping train civilian law enforcement personnel in administering life-saving Narcan for overdose victims.
