Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 9.
Three Chambers of Commerce are bringing together two organizations with divergent ways of improving the region during the third annual Southwest Regional Economic Summit. The event will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Sunset Country Club, 9555 Geyer Rd. (63127) The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Chamber of Commerce, Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kirkwood-DesPeres Chamber of Commerce are inviting leaders from local municipalities throughout St. Louis County and the general public to attend the presentation and moderated discussion.
Better Together, an organization dedicated to being a catalyst for the removal of governmental, economic, and racial barriers to the region’s growth and prosperity by promoting unity, trust, efficiency, and accountability, will be represented by Dave Leipholtz, Director of Community-Based Studies, and Kyle Juvers, Associate Director of Community-Based Studies. Cities Strong, an alliance of former and current municipal officials from St. Louis County and advocating for regional collaboration, local decision-making and hometown pride, will be represented by Jim Brasfield, President, and Pat Kelly, a member of the Board of Directors. Don Corrigan, Editor-in-Chief of the Webster-Kirkwood and South County Times, will lead a moderated discussion. A question-and-answer period will follow.
Public and private institutions, businesses and municipalities face significant challenges as they adapt to an ever-changing world. Two areas where most people and organizations can reach consensus—from children managing lemonade stands to adults working in federal government—are improving efficiencies and lowering costs. The Southwest Regional Economic Summit provides an opportunity for dialogue and discussion to determine how our region can improve and grow in the future.
