North Central Missouri College issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

Senator Dan Hegeman was recently recognized by the Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) for his service to North Central Missouri College and community colleges across the state. Senator Hegeman received the 2018 Distinguished Legislator Award at the statewide MCCA convention held in Branson, Missouri. This award is given annually to legislators that persistently support Missouri community colleges and community college students.

Senator Dan Hegeman represents the 12th Senatorial District, which is comprised of 15 counties throughout northwest Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Sullivan, and Worth.

“Senator Hegeman continuously supports NCMC and our students,” said Dr. Lenny Klaver, President. “On numerous occasions, Senator Hegeman advocated for community colleges and our endeavors to help us better serve Missouri students. Senator Hegeman is much deserved of this award, and I was honored to be in attendance.”

MCCA is Missouri’s largest advocacy group for community colleges. “MCCA is where the state’s 12 community colleges come together to share ideas and advance common goals.”

Each year, MCCA honors individuals and businesses who support community colleges in Missouri and provides recognition to those who are selected based on their support, generosity, commitment, and partnerships with community colleges in the state.
