St. Louis agency earns American Planning Association award

The American Planning Association (APA) held a luncheon earlier today in honor of the 2019 National Planning Excellence and Achievement Awards in San Francisco.

The St. Louis Planning and Urban Design Agency received the Silver National Planning Achievement Award for Transportation Planning for the Downtown St. Louis Multimodal Transportation Plan. According to the agency's website, the plan's purpose is to develop a multimodal transportation network for downtown St. Louis.

The National Awards Program, which has been active for more than 50 years, took place at the APA’s National Planning Conference. Selected by jury for their achievements in the field of urban planning, the National Planning Excellence Award went to five individuals, and the Achievement Award went to 20 organizations from all across the United States.

“This year’s award recipients demonstrate how planning helps create communities that offer access and opportunity for all," 2019 awards jury chair Wendy Shabay of AICP said. "Planning is vital to keep communities thriving and to ensure quality of life for residents.”
