Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 29.
Pam Berneking, Chief Operating Officer of CommunityAmerica Credit Union, is being honored as the 2019 Woman of Distinction for the Go Red for Women movement in Kansas City. She receives this honor for her passion to be a relentless force, for a world of longer, healthier lives.
Berneking is one of the American Heart Association’s most dedicated and longstanding volunteers. She has been the driving force behind the Go Red for Women movement in Kansas City since its inception 15 years ago and has been a catalyst for change across the Midwest. She is a trailblazer in the world of banking, but also in the world of health, as she helps bring the mission of the American Heart Association to life.
Berneking has served as the Chairman of the Kansas City American Heart Association Board of Directors, chaired the area’s Go Red for Women event and currently serves as Chair of the American Heart Association’s Midwest Affiliate Board of Directors, overseeing efforts in an 11-state region. “My association with the American Heart Association, and Go Red in particular, has allowed me to see first-hand the powerful impact of the AHA’s life-saving mission,” says Berneking. “I’m delighted to be part of this event, where we can celebrate all of the amazing work we’ve done over 15 years in Kansas City.”
This prestigious honor is not awarded lightly and is bestowed upon a leader who is always willing to roll up their sleeves. Berneking leads with intelligence, courage, passion and poise. Her strategic vision has led Kansas City to be one of the most powerful Go Red for Women movements in the nation. The American Heart Association is grateful to celebrate her at the 15th anniversary of the Kansas City Go Red for Women Luncheon on May 17, 2019 at the Overland Park Convention Center.
