Moniteau County ranked 21st in state for resident earnings in 2017


Moniteau County ranked 21st among counties in Missouri by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Moniteau County residents was an inflation-adjusted $26,208 per year. Moniteau County had 5,373 households in 2017, with a population of 15,904.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Platte County. Platte County's median income was $38,008 per year after adjusting for inflation – $11,800 more than Moniteau County. It had 38,147 households in 2017 and a population of 96,899.

Mississippi County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Missouri, with a median income of only $15,072 per year. That was $11,136 less than the median income in Moniteau County at the time. Mississippi County had 5,128 households in 2017 and a population of 13,916.
